WADF 4D

This judging system is unofficial and is not described in the World Artistic Dance Federation regulations. It is used in some competitions to evaluate performances in four dimensions, often in four dance styles. However it is important to note, that this is not a combination system as that used in ballroom tournaments. Here all dimensions are evaluated together and skating for final round is performed only once, so the final rank will be the same, as with the WADF 1D system but judged by 4 times more judges.

Elimination round

In elimination rounds, judges evaluate each performance in four dimensions:

  • 1st dimension
  • 2nd dimension
  • 3rd dimension
  • 4th dimension

For each dimension, judges decide which performances should advance to the next round by giving crosses (X). The number of crosses to give is automatically calculated based on the number of performances in the round or set by the scrutineer or chairman.

Later on, performances with the largest number of crosses across all four dimensions are qualified for the next round.

Final round

In the final round, judges rank each performance in four dimensions:

  • 1st dimension
  • 2nd dimension
  • 3rd dimension
  • 4th dimension

For each dimension, judges assign a unique place from 1 to the number of performances in the round.

Later on, the final rank is calculated using skating system based on all four dimensions.
