Technical requirements

There are no specific technical requirements for running danceit. All you need is a device that can access the web via a modern browser. All danceit magic is happening in the cloud and you don't need to wory about its infrastructure.

Recommendations

There are however some recommendations that can help you to get the best experience with danceit.

Browser

No matter what device and system you are using, our golden recommendation is Google Chrome. Version 100 or higher would be neat.

It doesn't mean that other browsers won't work, but we can't guarantee the same level of experience.

Operating system

Android for tablets and smartphones, Windows for laptops are the best choices.

You can also use Linux, MacOS, iOS, but we can't guarantee the same level of experience because they are not as tested.

Using iPads for example is fine, but you may not be then able to see judges' actual battery levels and so. Even when using Google Chrome, iOS and MacOS users may observe some differences in the interface.

Device

Dance school, organizer, scrutineer and display panel were developed with laptop first in mind.

Judge, moderator, chairman, stage manager and cafe panels were developed with tablet first in mind.

Entire app is however responsive and you can use any device you want no matter what panel you are using. Some modules are just more convenient to tap, while others are more convenient to be used on bigger screens. While judges may use smartphones for simple judging systems, for more complex small screens may be inconvenient.

One of the most popular tablet used by competition staff we noticed so far is Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 SM-X200. You may see its specifications and assume that anything as good or better will work just fine.

Internet connection

The key to a best experience during the event is a decently fast and stable internet connection. While the speed is not that important, because we don't really send much data during an event, the stability is crucial.

WiFi is an obvious choice, but you need to mind that on some events competition staff is traveling with their devices around the entire hall, what given the hudge amount of people present, may be a challenge. No matter what AP / router you are using, just make sure that the signal is strong enough and keep in mind that conditions may be drastically different before the start of the event, when the hall is empty, and during the event, when the hall is full of people.

Modern halls nowadays often have a brilliant fiber internet connection, so whenever possible our recommendation is to use it.

The most popular options choosen by scrutineers so far are however mobile internet routers, because they can be used anywhere. If you are using one, make sure that it is in a range of 4G or ideally 5G network which is more stable especially in crowded places.

Second source of internet connection is one of the best practices. Connecting some devices to one, others to second source it usually a good idea. Even if one of the sources fails, the other one will still be working.
